You are invited to view Dr. Leigh Anne Bennett’s speech which was delivered September 24, 2001. Dr. Bennett is the daughter of our beloved Dr. Elliott, who died by suicide on January 13, 2001. At the time of his death she was a resident in psychiatry at the University of Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This event was the first of what has become an annual Elliott Dinner celebrating the life of Dr. Elliott on his birthday.
You will find this presentation, by a bereaved daughter, to be touching, uplifting and informative.
Put yourself in the shoes of the audience which consisted of family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Elliott. Without exception everyone there loved and respected Robert.
Also, there were so many in the room who felt not only hurt and grief but also that common feeling of “what could I have done to save our beloved friend?”
We hope that by hearing Leigh Anne express her feelings, you will be motivated to join us in our journey to educate the public about the disease of depression, end stigma, save lives and restore hope so that this tragedy never happens to another family.
It is our pleasure to present to you Dr. Leigh Anne Bennett.
